BSN ’96 Converged in Las Vegas to Celebrate 25th

The Silver Jubilarians of Riverside College Nursing Class ’96 converged in Las Vegas, Nevada last August 21-22 to celebrate their 25th year reunion. They explored the Red Rock Canyon, had fun shooting at Sloan Gun Range, toured around Las Vegas Strip, ate at Jollibee, Las Vegas and watched the boxing game of Manny Pacquiao. They spent the weekend reminiscing their college days and graduation ceremony way back in 1996 at the open quadrangle. They brought everyone “pasalubongs” a representation of their current location. Riverside College is proud of what they have become as they continue to serve in the different fields of the Nursing profession all over the world.

Student Activities Coordinator

Job Descriptions

  • Plans, organizes, and controls the operations and activities of the assigned office; prepares and submits strategic and operational plans with corresponding budgetary requirements in support of such operations and activities and secures approval for implementation.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of student activities at the Institutional level; ensures the linkages of these programs and projects with the curricular programs of the various academic units.
  • Prepares the integrated annual, semestral, and monthly calendar of activities in coordination with the academic managers, deans, coordinators, class and organization advisers / moderators, and officers of the different student organizations.
  • Undertakes assessment of application filed by student groups / organizations for accreditation or official recognition and endorses findings and recommendations through the Student Affairs and Admissions Manager to the Vice President for Academic Affairs for appropriate action.
  • Reviews project plans of duly recognized student organizations and endorses them through the Student Affairs and Admissions Manager for the approval of the Vice President for Academic Affairs; oversees the implementation of approved internal and external activities in conformity with approval limitations.
  • Endorses requests of student organizations for the use of school facilities for their programs and projects.
  • Ensures that parental consent / waiver is secured for student activities done both inside and outside the Institution campus.
  • Reviews recommendations on the participation of students in inter-school and other external activities such as conventions, seminars, workshops, competitions and the like and submits recommendations through the Student Affairs and Admissions Manager to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
  • Recommends candidates for student competitions such as TOSP, NOPSSCEA, PRISAA and the like.
  • Prepares criteria for and recommends the awarding of recognition to student organizations and individual students that have excelled in non- academic and extra- curricular activities.
  • Monitors the activities of the Institution student council and other accredited campus organizations in the area of funds management, covering both funds generation and expenditures vis-à-vis established guidelines.
  • Implements continuous leadership training programs to enhance the holistic growth of campus leaders and other learners as they spearhead and participate in student organization activities.
  • Endorses the designation of club or organization advisers / moderators through the Student Affairs and Admissions Manager to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
  • Monitors the activities of the official student publications’ editorial staff and ensures their compliance with relevant laws, Commission on Higher Education policies, and Institutional guidelines on their operations.
  • Networks with similar institutions, foundations, and professional organizations to establish collaboration for information exchange, referrals, and joint projects.
  • Prepares periodic planner on activities to be undertaken by the assigned office; consolidates information on outputs, results, and accomplishment into regular performance reports and submits the same to the superiors in the organization.

Job Descriptions

  • Receives annual budget requests from the different departments and work units of the institution; examines budget estimates for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with procedures and regulations; prepares recommendations on approval/ disapproval on the basis of budget preparation parameters and guidelines.
  • Prepares logistical and document requirements for budget hearings: takes down notes on discussions and agreements arrived at during the budget hearings and incorporates such agreements in the consolidation of the institutional budgets.
  • Assists in the consolidation of the institutional budget on the basis of decision actions arrived at during the budget hearing.
  • Maintains and updates computerized information system relative to expenditures of the different cost centers; reviews trends noted and comes up with initial analysis and set of recommendations more particularly in relation to unfavorable variances.
  • Monitors budget performance of different departments and work units; assists in preparation of budget feedback reports, analyzing variances between approved budgets and actual expenditures to maintain expenditures controls.
  • Prepares detailed budget charts, tables, and spreadsheets, as needed, in support of a variety of budgetary analyses and special projects; compiles and displays data using table and graph spreadsheet applications as requested.
  • Screens budget realignment requests to ascertain whether there will be sources of funding; prepares corresponding recommendations on action to take on such requests.
  • Responds to basic day to day queries on budget matters; provides assistance with cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget preparation.
  • Receives billing statements from suppliers and contractors; reviews completeness of supporting documents related to billings on purchased equipment and materials, capital expenditures, contracted services rendered and utilities.
  • Receives and records in the budget monitoring ledgers per department all request for payment forms from requisitioning work units, endorses the recommended amount for settlement, and routes the same for processing, approval, and signature.

Job Descriptions

  • Initiates the development of health maintenance plans, programs, and activities in coordination and cooperation with different department heads to promote health and wellness among the members of the school community.
  • Responds to medical emergencies; administers first aid treatment to learners and employees, taking into consideration the independent, dependent and collaborative functions and decision making authorities.
  • Issues over-the-counter medicine as requested by learners and employees of the school upon clearance with the school physicians and/or personal doctors.
  • Attends to sick learners and employees, refers them to the school physician for diagnosis, and isolates them in case of communicable diseases; coordinates with the Principal or Dean or Director for Student Services or the Human Resource Manager to enable them to inform respective parents of learners/employees on procedures undertaken on the ailing learner and his/her current condition and to generate decisions from them on what next to undertake.
  • Relays to relevant school authorities the Doctor’s advice on sending learners and employees home, or excusing their absence from classes or office work as a result of illness or accident.
  • Arranges for the transport of and/or accompanies, in the absence of a doctor or as instructed by the latter, learners / employees to their respective homes, or to a hospital in case of emergency; assists learners in availing of hospital emergency services against their insurance coverage.
  • Assists the physicians and dentists during the actual conduct of the regular physical examinations for learners and employees; assists in the conduct of physical examination for athletes joining meets, opens, and intramurals, and for learners on athletic scholarship.
  • Provides one-on-one advisory and counseling services on health matters to learners and employees upon their request.
  • Prepares and releases medical certificates and health records to learners and employees upon request and as authorized by the physician.
