SHERRYL C. SANIOR

What truly made my experience at Riverside College special was the sense of belonging, the feeling of being part of one big family. RCI gave me more than just a career; it gave me a second family. As I look back the halls of RCI, it brings back countless memories, but it is the people—my colleagues, my friends, my mentors—who have given meaning to every step of the journey. I am deeply grateful for the camaraderie I have shared with my colleagues and the inspiration drawn from the students who bring life to the word “school.” Above all, I give thanks to the Lord for embracing me and guiding me on this path that has led to three decades of service.

What made me stay at Riverside College for this long was because of my parents. As former employees of Riverside hospital, my father and mother stayed until their retirement, after 37 & 42 years of service respectively. Riverside has been my home not just for the past 25 years but for most of my 51 years of existence. I literally live and breathe Riverside. It has helped me and my family a lot. It has given me free education & has provided jobs for a lot of my relatives. Staying this long is my way of giving back to Riverside & also to the Torre family for what they have done for our family. I will forever be grateful to this institution who has helped & molded me to what I am today.

I stayed in RCI for 20 years because of my commitment as an alumna (BSN Batch ‘86) and passion in my field. I want to share my competencies gained from my exposure in the Operating Room having been an OR staff at RMCI for 6 years. I have been with different affiliating hospitals assigned usually in the OR and I would like to share my experiences with our students.

Finding satisfaction in my job as a Clinical Instructor is one of the reasons I stayed at Riverside College. I find my work meaningful and fulfilling after always hearing our graduates thank us for what they have learned from our classes, and hearing them say they have not forgotten what we have advised them. Job stability in RCI also made me stay. Furthermore, the strong positive relationships with my colleagues created a strong attachment for me with the institution. The supportive work environment and considering me as family made me realize there is no better opportunity than this.
