The Practice-Based Education Training and Oversight Committee of the College of Nursing (CON) successfully conducted a training, focused on building competency and confidence in simulation-based teaching and learning from July 14-18 2025. The training was spearheaded by Mr. Japheth G. Jingco together with Ms. Delilah Navarro & Ms. Monecelle Joy Pesinable who acted as speakers and facilitators. Attended by all full-time CON faculty members, the training aimed to strengthen simulation pedagogy, align practices with international standards, and foster meaningful learning experiences that mirror real-world clinical environments.
The training program entitled SimLead had the following objectives: • To enhance faculty knowledge and application of simulation as a teachinglearning strategy.
• To promote safe, structured, and psychologically supportive simulation environments. • To build faculty confidence in designing, facilitating, and debriefing simulation scenarios. • To align simulation practices with guidelines from International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) and global nursing organizations. The first two days of the program were highlighted with a discussion on:• Principles and purposes of simulation in nursing education• Simulation flow: pre-briefing, huddle, scenario, and debriefing• Overview and interpretation of ECG & ACLS algorithms• Re-orientation on emergency drugs and dosage calculations. The third day focused on hands-on immersion into scenario facilitation, mannequin use, and student performance observation. The fourth day was spent for feedbacking, post-assessment, and open discussions that encouraged reflection, evaluation, and goal setting for simulation enhancement within the College of Nursing. —J.
