The Department of Psychology,together with the Riverside PsychologicalSociety, organized a talk entitled “Acethe Challenge: Thriving Through AcademicPressure” last October 30 to celebratethe Mental Health Month. The sessionoffered practical strategies for managingstress and navigating the pressures ofacademic life. Invited Resource SpeakerMs. Christine Lourdes Labayen, RGC,delivered an insightful presentation oncoping with stress. She emphasized theimportance of mental health, especiallyfor those balancing academic responsibilities.One of the key strategies discussed wasthe 4-4-4 breathing technique, which involvesinhaling for four counts, holding thebreath for another four, and exhaling forfour. This simple yet effective techniquecan help calm the nervous system and managestress. This event highlighted the college’scommitment for a nurturing environment wheremental health is prioritized.
